The inaugural Cybersecurity Innovation Day 2019 was held on the 1st of August 2019. The event brought together Singapore’s cybersecurity ecosystem to showcase innovative cybersecurity solutions and the opportunity to network with relevant industry professionals. Co-organised by the Cyber Security Agency of Singapore (CSA) and TNB Ventures, in partnership with the Innovation Cybersecurity Ecosystem at Block 71 (ICE71) and Singapore Cybersecurity Consortium (SGCSC), the event saw a good turnout of over 450 cybersecurity professionals at the Marina Mandarin.

At the event, Guest of Honour Mr. David Koh, Chief Executive of CSA gave the opening address to attendees consisting of various industry corporate companies, solution providers, early stage start-ups, universities and institutions, community partners and professionals who are interested in the cybersecurity sector. Mr Koh highlighted the importance of a cybersecurity innovation for Singapore to grow as a Digital and Smart Nation, as well as the need for collaborations between users and the industry to develop innovative cybersecurity solutions.

With a broad overview of the Cybersecurity industry in Singapore, it was time to unveil the awardees for the Cybersecurity Industry Call for Innovation (2018 Grant Call). Mr Michael Yap, Managing Director of TNB Ventures, presented eight companies’ projects that have been awarded with CSA’s Co-Innovation and Development of Proof-of-Concept (CID-POC) Funding Scheme for the 2018 Call. Mr Yap shared his insights on how the 2018 Call helped end users (also known as demand drivers) develop a deeper understanding of their own organisation’s cybersecurity needs. It also brought forth the opportunity for different divisions within the organization to tackle these challenges together.
